One of the more popular styles of dance instruction that we offer is ballroom dance.
Modern ballroom dance came about in the early twentieth century as the popularity of group dancing waned. Today there are a number of ballroom dance styles, but all focus on the elegance, beauty, and teamwork of dance partners. The most common styles include the Foxtrot, Waltz, Viennese Waltz, Tango, and Quickstep.
The Waltz is a German dance style that is believed to have originated in the 1500s. With numerous forms of Waltzes danced today, it remains one of the most popular ballroom styles. The Viennese Waltz was originally a different form of the traditional Waltz, but it is now recognized as a distinct style.
Developed in the early 1900s as ballroom dancing was gaining in popularity, the Foxtrot shares much of its style with the Waltz but has its own unique rhythm.
The Tango originated in Argentina and Uruguay in the late 1800s. It is a combination of European and African dancing styles that came about in the cultural melting pot of the New World.
The Quickstep is a more jovial ballroom dance style. It is often described as both fast and powerful, and it is danced to upbeat music.
